After a successful first outing of the entire ensemble of Campus Connect: 2Face and Friends Tour, the next stop of the campus tour was Port Harcourt and was scheduled for Tuesday the 14th of May. The affair recorded a capacity turn out by members of the University community who all attended to watch their star, 2face perform some of his hits.
Whilst 2Face headlined the show, he had a cast of star studded artistes to support him in the concert with their performances. These artistes include Sound Sultan, Phyno, Vector, Solid Star, EFA, Seyi Shay, Dammy Krane, Rocksteady, Ruff Coin, and Mima as well as members of the Naija ninja crew which includes Yung Gracey, Karma, and Blakka.
The show which kicked off at about 4:00 PM was opened by the members of the Naija ninja crew who were followed by some of the local talents from the area. EFA then went on stage to perform songs which include his hit single, Open and Close before Rocksteady took the stage and impressed. Mr. 2Kay followed and after him, Ruff Coin, Seyi Shay, Solid Star and then Dammy Krane all went on stage to show their stuff.
Vector was next on stage and his presence as well as performance had the crowd craving for more. Phyno’s appearance on stage placated their hunger and set the stage for the veteran Sound Sultan who thrilled the crowd to a retinue of his ever green hits from Jagbantis in the earlier days and his more recent numbers. His performance preceded the grand entry of 2baba who capped the concert.
2baba remains a master of the game and his love for the university community and theirs for him showed forth in a mutually enjoyable performance.
From the age long hits of the Plantashun Boiz to his early solos and still onto the latest ones, 2face was in his element in a performance that one couldn’t tell between him and the audience who enjoyed the most.
The University of Lagos show which was to have come on May 7 was postponed due to slight logistic issues but the organisers have promised Unilag that they will be visited once a new date is set.
The Campus Connect: 2face and Friends Tour 2013 is produced by NM En.Core and sponsored by Nigeria’s No.1 premium non-alcoholic brand, Low-Sugar Amstel Malta with support from Hypertek Music and Soundcity who who are the official media partners of the tour.
Since the last time he visited a campus in 2006, the artiste has attained a number of milestones. He has released three albums the latest of which is his 5th studio album ‘Away and Beyond’ which was released to critical acclaim. He also went on the nationwide ‘Buckwyld and Breathless’ tour which broke new grounds in 2012 as it was held in Port Harcourt and Abuja for the first time, as well as Atlanta, New York and Chicago in the United States.
For thirteen years since he came on the music scene, he has treated us to some of the finest urban music ever heard this side of the world earning him the respect of all and sundry both home and abroad and is viewed as the greatest artiste of our time. 2Face’s latest offering, Away and Beyond, is available on ITunes and in CD stores nationwide.
