We have reached a point where people are very scared about our safety and future. This is true for Africa and the world in general.

The growing violence is beyond tribe or religion. We see it in newspaper headlines that look like movie scripts, in small communities and even families. Our potential is almost being swallowed by fear and violence. We are greater than this. But no one or society gets used to violence or hate. It is very damaging, toxic. Nothing positive develops without peace. No peace no progress.

Why peace? Why not? It is the starting point for any progress. Even as we disagree we can agree we want to feel safe. The MVP project is about community; people standing up make things better together.

Nigeria, Africa has all the resources to be great— people and ideas and cooperation. Kindness and respect for each other will make us great.

Why an award for youth impacting on peace? Why not! It’s easy to focus on what is bad. Let's share what is good. Let's celebrate young people doing good things.  Share positivity, learn from them and support them.

If Nigeria didn't already have people working for peace I'm sure we would have been gone by now. We are basically good people. Let's claim it.
