Castle’s daughter Alexis and her friend were kidnapped but which girl were the kidnappers really after? Just when Castle was about to go out of his mind with fear, he got a call from Alexis while she was in the middle of an escape attempt. She managed to say a few words before dropping the phone (?). Again, I say. . . what? This man has spent the last 40 years hiding his relationship to Rick and Alexis — except for the family scrapbook he has pinned to his wall. And then you say you’re surprised that the bad guys put it together?

So super spy is Castle’s father. I’m okay with that. He got Martha pregnant during a one-night stand, then duty called and he only occasionally looked back. I’m not okay with that. And I’m less okay with Castle’s puppy-dog eyes, but I need time to get to know you, routine. The man was a sperm donor, nothing more. He’s also the reason your daughter is in dire danger and you want to shoot hoops in the courtyard?

No time for that now. First, they have to rescue Alexis and it begins with Castle crawling through the sewers of Paris in order to cut the power to the house where she’s being held. Of course, he’s instantly stopped by armed guards and I start having “It Takes a Thief” flashbacks.

Castle is reunited with Alexis while the bad guy uses Castle’s walkie-talkie to threaten dear old dad. The Russian baddie wants revenge for the death of his wife and child but oops. . . the walkie is also a bomb. Bam! It blows up in his face and provides us with a flashback of how this was the plan all along.

Castle frees Alexis and they make a run for it, out of the house and down the street to the conveniently located American embassy.
